Historical Minutes
Special Congregational meeting – March 28, 1950
Meeting called to order by Pres. Leroy Brede. Prayer offered by Rev. Behle. Purpose of the meeting was to rebuild the church which was destroyed by fire March 2, 1950. The church council set up a plan to have members of the congregation to be on different committees to help with the rebuilding of the church. Those committees included: building, finance, organ, heating, and decorating.
Church Board meeting – July 6, 1950
The council met with the building committee to open the sealed bids for the building of the church. Bids entered were from Herbert Yaeger and Nowlin Cook & Son. They agreed to recommend to the congregation the Herbert Yaeger bid in the amount of $12,350.
Special Congregational meeting – November 19, 1953
This meeting was called for the purpose of accepting or rejecting the 1954 budget…A motion was made by Raymond Reinhart and seconded by Herman Hofbauer to change the minister’s salary on the budget from $2,400 to $2,700. This motion carried by a rising vote. A motion was made by Herman Hofbauer and seconded by John Baehr to accept the 1954 budget of $5,212. This carried by a rising vote.
Regular Council meeting – September 7, 1955
The pastor [Rev. Brink] decided to take the rest of his vacation September 18th. A motion was made by Harry Krausz and seconded by Oscar Mallrich that a film be shown on that Sunday.
Regular Council meeting – October 21, 1963
After reports from different meetings Rev (Merzdorf) and myself (Kate Hodel) attended, the race situation was discussed, and decided that other races would be welcome in our church according to our bylaws and constitution.
Annual Congregational meeting – January 15, 1964
Earl Welden reported the change of name from Zion Evangelical & Reformed Church to Zion United Church of Christ
